ASPAR TEAM SHINES IN MOTO2 AND MOTO3 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN MALAYSIA
Selangor, 3 November 2024 – David Alonso from the CFMOTO Aspar Team once again showcased an outstanding performance, claiming his 13th victory at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. This win makes him the first rider in the lightweight category to achieve six consecutive victories since Valentino Rossi in 1997, boosting the spirits of motorcycle fans both locally and internationally.

Starting the race from third position, Alonso found himself relegated to thirteenth on the second lap after skilfully avoiding Dani Holgado’s crash on the track. From that moment, Alonso began his steady climb back to the front. Within three laps, he had reached fourth position, and by the fifth lap, he was already in podium contention. Ahead of him, Taiyo Furusato and Joel Kelso were locked in a battle for the lead, until Kelso made a costly error that dropped him down the rankings. Furusato held onto first, but Alonso wasn’t done. With three laps remaining, he overtook the Japanese rider, leaving no room for a comeback.

Meanwhile, CFMOTO Aspar Team rider Joel Esteban had a short-lived race at the Malaysian GP. The rookie, who started from 21st on the grid, crashed in the second corner. Esteban suffered a heavy impact that required him to be taken to the medical center, where doctors discovered a minor fracture in his left humerus.

CFMOTO Aspar Team rider Izan Guevara will have lasting memories of the 2024 Malaysian GP. The Spanish rider achieved his first Moto2 career podium finish after 37 races in the intermediate class. Starting from eleventh, Guevara quickly advanced to fifth after the first lap. He stayed with the leading pack, fighting until the very end to secure a podium spot.

With three laps to go, Guevara moved up to fourth, and in the final lap, he overtook his teammate Jake Dixon to clinch the position. The British rider had mounted an impressive comeback in Sepang but couldn’t finish as strongly as he’d hoped. Dixon, who started from twelfth on the grid, overtook several competitors throughout the race, reaching third position with six laps to go. However, a miscalculation led him to ease off the throttle on the penultimate lap, allowing Guevara to overtake him and finishing Dixon just shy of the podium. The results in Moto2 and Moto3 this year have indeed been a remarkable victory, further underscoring CFMOTO’s excellence.
